When I was looking around for (obviously bad) reviews for The Da Vinci Code, I fell on this info. I mean, what is the matter with those filmmakers these days? Writer's block or something? One bad remake after the other. I bet it won't even come near the intensity and drama of one of my all time favorites, the original East of Eden. James Dean at its best. Who's going to take his role anyway?
I am afraid Ron Howard will be capable to transform John Steinbecks novel, one of Elia Kazan's masterpieces, and James Dean's first and best performance into something overdramatic and superficial like Cinderella Man, boring like A Beautiful Mind or just terribly bad like the Da Vinci Code.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention the worst, a Mel Gibson - Ron Howard combo: Ransom.
